Hi, my name is Janet Sewell and I am European. I’m actually as European as they get! I was born in Iceland to a French mother and an English dad. And while I spent cold winters in Iceland, I spent warm summers in the South of France with my grandparents, in essence navigating and living in three different cultures from a very young age. In 2004, just two weeks after graduating high-school, I left Iceland for an adventure of my own. I moved to Greece and became a missionary with Hellenic Ministries. I have been in Greece since then.
In 2009 the Lord took me to South Africa on another adventure. I went there to do an internship in radio production. Prior to leaving I was praying and asking the Lord to give me a vision for a niche within this vast world of media. Everybody has something to say and I wanted something fresh and different from the Lord. I spent a week praying about it and the Lord answered through an apologetics video. As I watched this video, everything clicked for me. My love of research, reading, learning, photography, and media, all of my artistic and technology sides focused into one very specific outlet for one purpose: to make the Lord known to an unbelieving world through videos.
It quickly became apparent to me that I needed more training in the realm of apologetics so I started reading and listening a lot more to apologetics talks. Upon listening to one of Ravi Zacharias’ podcasts I heard about the Oxford Center for Christian Apologetics, OCCA for short. I got in touch with them and applied. To my delight they accepted me and in September of 2011 I made my way to Oxford for an incredible year of apologetics and theology.
I am now in the process of transitioning within Hellenic Ministries into what will hopefully be full time apologetics.
